Testimonials - Profile Extrusion
Harry L. is a production supervisor in the extrusion department of a firm that
manufactures a broad range of architectural products. Here is how he uses SuperNova
chemical purging compound to enhance extrusion productivity.

Most of our production is rigid vinyl for moldings and rails and mullions, like that.
Our department runs five days so we always had issues on startup with carbon. With twelve
lines going, it seemed like every Monday we'd be in trouble on one of 'em and often as not
we'd wind up pulling the screw to clean the black stuff off it.
I didn't have my hopes up too much when the SuperNova purge came in 'cause I'd seen a
lot of purges come and go without doing very much good. Some of 'em are good for color
changes but they don't do too good on carbon.
Nick - he's our engineer - had us pull the screw on one line and clean it up and then
he put a drum of SuperNova by that machine and had the operators use it every time they
stopped the machine. We have some color changes and some die changes as well as Friday night.
After about a month, we still hadn't seen any specks come out of that line which was
unheard of. We pulled the screw and it was clean as could be. So that convinced the plant
manager (who was even more of a skeptic than me) and we've been using SuperNova on all
the lines since then.
We get good startups every week on all the lines, and we're even making faster dark
to light color changes. I don't know exactly how much lost time we got back but it's
pretty significant.
I think anybody that runs vinyl - or I guess any material that's prone to carbon - and
has regular shutdowns ought to take a serious look at SuperNova.
