Testimonials - Extrusion Coating
Eric B. is the Coating Department Lead Foreman at a coated products company in New
England. He tells us how SuperNova LT Chemical Purging Compound enhanced his company's
productivity and profitability:

We coat web product with either EAA or LDPE and we have to go back and forth between
them a couple times a week. When we used to just flush with the next resin it'd take us
a couple hours. We improved on that by using a purging compound - got it down to about
an hour and a half. But we still had an issue.
The purge got the old resin out in about 30 minutes, but then we had to run scrap for
about 45 minutes to an hour 'til all of the purge was out of the system. We'd keep dragging
white specks in the coating for that long. That stuff just gets ground up and sent to the
landfill, so it was pretty expensive.
NOVACHEM came up with the SuperNova LT product for us to try. We found it worked just
as well as the other stuff for getting the previous resin out, but then the follow-on resin
cleaned out the SuperNova in 5 or 10 minutes. So we cut our scrap way down. And it works
just as well in either direction - out of the EAA or out of the PE.
We're saving about four hours a week compared to the other product, and the scrap is
down by 400 pounds a week. That's product we can sell, now!
Just as a side benefit, the other product smelled really strongly of ammonia. Sometimes
the guys on the floor were really irritated by it. The SuperNova material hasn't got any of
that so the operators like it a lot better.
Y'know, the other funny thing is that the SuperNova LT actually costs a little less than
the other product we were using. But it's worth a lot more to us.
